Watch: Dublin Cyclist Spectacularly Takes Down Thief Trying To Steal His Bike

Wrestlemania-style take down from cyclist as thief mounts his carbon bike and tries to ride off

It’s a sorry state of affairs when you can’t leave your bike unlocked outside a shop while you nip in to grab something. But alas that’s unfortunately the world we live in these days.

Case in point: this cyclist in Dublin, Ireland. The poor bloke was filmed propping his bike up against a wall while he nipped around the corner to get something. Less than 17 seconds later, however, two youths come into view and decide they rather like the look of the man’s bike before mounting it and trying to get away.

How quick can a bike be robbed?? Less than 17 seconds based on this video. One of our senior mechanics was very lucky to get away with about €200 worth of damage rather than losing his carbon racing bike. This happened in Clontarf over the weekend and we would like to urge all bike owners to lock their bikes at all times even if you are just leaving it for under a minute. Cue wrestlemania-style heroics from the cyclist as he darts back into shot and launches himself at the would-be thief in spectacular style, taking him down in the process. A few wild right hooks are then thrown by the cyclist before the thieves take off leaving the man with about €200 worth of damage to his carbon bike.
